The business is well positioned for future growth and have created a new and exciting opportunity for an ambitious Sales / Business Development Manager to take responsibility for identifying, developing, negotiating and closing profitable business opportunities with new and existing customer relationships within the Cycle Infrastructure sector.


Reporting to and working closely with the Sales Director you will play the leading role in planning and implementation of targeted sales and business development strategies and initiatives across the UK for Cycle Infrastructure solutions that are suitable for Towns & City Centres, Public Transport Stations & Interchanges, Colleges & Universities, Shopping Centres & Retail, Business Parks & Workplace Offices


The Role


  • Drive the development and expansion of the cycle storage infrastructure division which includes shelters, hangars, hubs and digital cycle counters
  • Take ownership of the customer relationship from engagement to contract signature - develop strong client relationships across all levels of the selling process, including consultants, architects, design engineers, end users and contractors
  • Support existing customer relationships; identify, target and develop new business opportunities for cycle infrastructure within existing contracts / strategic customers
  • Build opportunities, manage all aspects of and increase the sales pipeline to ensure targets are met and deliver these into the business in accordance with agreed margins
  • Support end-to end processing to ensure accurate information flows into production; maintain regular updates with customers to further enhance the business reputation for levels of quality, service and delivery
  • Provide input into the development of sales forecasts & annual plans as required
  • Working predominantly in an office based role you will also be required to travel around the UK meeting customers as required
  • Present solutions in a professional manner to prospective clients; including detailed quotations and associated documentation
  • Develop brand awareness, understanding of user needs and technical capabilities - actively prospect, contact and build relationships with new potential customers and maintain consistent contact with existing clients
  • Be the customer contact - follow up promptly on all inbound leads and enquiries
  • Analyse the market and competition, gather market intelligence and research trends within the cycle infrastructure sector
  • Establish sales and innovative marketing initiatives to leverage competitive advantages for cycle infrastructure
  • Attend at trade shows and relevant industry conferences/events as required
  • Manage internal and external stakeholders
  • Maintain list of prospects, ensure the CRM system is up to date and compliant


The Person


  • Ideally a degree or equivalent in a business, marketing or engineering discipline
  • Significant existing sales / business development experience gained within the cycle infrastructure / active travel industry
  • You will ideally be an existing sales / business development manager, although an ambitious sales representative / internal sales who is seeking to “step up” and further develop their career into a  management position will also be considered
  • Able to work with a high degree of autonomy
  • A strong technical selling (Metals / Fabrication) understanding
  • Experience in all stages of the sales cycle including managing /developing a sales pipeline and deal closing
  • Strong commercial / financial skills, able to produce regular sales forecasts, reports & updates - keep colleagues informed and ensure that the customer remains on board
  • Responsive to the needs of customers, committed to and understands the importance of providing a high-quality service
  • Strong presentation skills and be able to deliver confidence and enhance reputation in front of customers
  • Good telephone manner, confident and personable
  • A natural flair for developing strong relationships with new customers and in maintaining those with existing ones
  • A self-starter, enthusiastic with demonstrated sales success and a desire to succeed
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Strong analytical, intelligence and written skills are required in order to understand wider market opportunities, competitors and trends
  • Results orientated and a strong customer / client focus
  • Effective time management, organisational, influencing and prioritisation skills
  • Can work independently with a strong sense of urgency
  • Comfortable and competent with IT technology and software – MS Office, CRM systems, Apps, Video Calling (Zoom, Teams, Skype, etc)
  • Able to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Full UK driving license – willingness and ability to travel within the UK as requiredrequirement to travel to Head Office and to other regional offices as required
